What is Evenhue?

A free OKLCH color palette generator for design systems. It builds color scales where the same step has the same brightness in every hue.

Is Evenhue free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no sign-up, and your palettes are saved in this browser.

Why do blue-600 and red-600 have the same contrast?

Each step is solved to the same luminance in every hue, so matching steps pass WCAG 2 and APCA the same way.

What is OKLCH?

A color space where the numbers track what you see: the same lightness looks equally light in any hue. Evenhue uses it to keep scales even and inside the sRGB or Display P3 gamut.

How do I check contrast?

Open the Contrast or Usage tab. Both score every color pair with WCAG 2 and APCA, and show which steps work for text, icons and borders.

What can I export? Does it work with Tailwind?

Copy the palette as CSS variables, Tailwind (v4 @theme or v3 config) or DTCG design tokens. Steps use Tailwind names (50 to 950). A Figma plugin is coming soon.

Can I start from my brand color?

Yes. Choose Brand color, paste its hex, and Evenhue builds the scale around it, placing it at the closest step or one you choose.
